Quality of life matters, SCG put effort into placing priority on playing an active part in tackling social problems that impact livelihood and quality of life, enhancing good health and well-being, economic strength, and reducing social inequality.

Good Health and well-being are vital priorities aligned with SDGs 3 and 8 that SCG continuously pays attention to and creates share value along its value chain. With the COVID-19 pandemic, SCG recognizes the urgency of multi-sectoral collaboration to face the crisis by developing Innovations and Assistance in the Wake of COVID-19and provide medical care for frontline medical staff in domestic & regional. Moreover, the situation has affected the economy causing unemployed. So, SCG is working towards reducing inequality, strengthening communities and helping people affected by the crisis earn a living to sustain and support themselves through Building high-demand job opportunities and The Power of Community Project. Moreover, Transportation Safety continuously has implemented and put effort to manage by instilling safety mindsets and building driving skills & capability among employees, drivers in the value chain, and people in the community to ensure that they all share public routes with maximum safety.

Innovations and Assistance in the Wake of COVID-19

During the spread of COVID-19, medical professionals who have been at the frontline against the pandemic are at an increased risk of COVID-19 transmission.  Realizing the safety of medical personnel in taking care of patients, SCG and SCG Foundation have collaborated with medical specialists, using SCG’s innovations and technologies to develop a wide range of innovations against COVID-19 and have provided financial support and equipment to reduce transmission risks and protect the medical personnel in every step from screening patients to testing and treatment for the virus.

All SCG’s business units by pooling their resources and working speedily have been able to drive over 40 COVID-19 innovations.  Examples include modular screening and swab unit, mobile isolation unit, patient isolation capsule, negative pressure SWAB cabinet, mobile clinic, tele-monitoring, dent guard, modular bathroom, food and medicine delivery robot, soluble laundry bag, SCGP Paper Beds and Modular ICU, etc. SCG has also connected with more than 230 networks in the government, business, and civil society sectors to help support and deliver the assistance and supplies to more than 979 hospitals and facilities across Thailand.

Building High-demand Job Opportunities

Despite the economic slowdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic, SCG has strived to advance professional skills of technicians through the “Good Builders Have More Customers” project, offering a training program for builders and home improvement technicians. The hybrid training programs consisting of online lectures and on-site practical training aims to assist those returning to hometown or losing income, and to advance the skills and knowledge of construction technicians to provide new job opportunities for unemployed people.

The Power of Community Project

The community enterprise training program is designed to instill knowledge and virtues in tune with the Sufficiency Economy philosophy, inspiring the community to develop themselves by processing local products to create added value, creating a unique product identity, and selling through online channels as well as how to plan for their future.

Transport Safety’ through Smart Driver Program

Road accidents cause detrimental effects to the victims, society and economic value while logistics operations are part of SCG’s businesses, SCG is committed on transport safety to reduce the number of road accidents.  A series of driver training programs, therefore, have been consecutively provided to SCG’s transport drivers in order to make them be gentlemen behind the wheel.This approach not only makes driving less dangerous for everyone on the road, but also enhances the road safety to communities where SCG has the operations, as well as assisting SCG in expanding these best practices to organizations outside SCG.
